8. We are staying in Granada, where can you pick us up?
Granada’s center is not driving friendly. Many streets are vehicle restricted or only for pedestrians. For this reason we have a default meeting and pick-up point : Plaza Mariana Pineda. It is very centric and with easy walking access.
9. We are staying in Nerja, Costa del Sol, Málaga, Córdoba etc., can you pick us up?
We can pick you up depending on the number of people in your group, and/or if there are other people staying in the same area interested in doing the tour. If this is not possible we can send a private vehicle to pick you up in order to join the tour. This service will include a fee to cover any additional costs.
10. Where does the tour take place?
The tour takes place in Nigüelas and its surroundings. Nigüelas is located in the Lecrin Valley, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, between the Tropical Coast and the city of Granada, close to the Alpujarras.
11. We would like to come in our own vehicle, how do we get there from Granada or Málaga?
The tour starts in Nigüelas (post code 18657), and GPS coordinates: 36.976133,-3.541246
If you come from Granada:
Take the A-44 highway towards Motril. Take the exit # 157 (NIGUELAS – DURCAL) and follow the signs to the village of Nigüelas. At the entrance of the village, on your left, there is a big free parking lot where you can park your car and meet our guide.
It is very important to book in advance in order to do the tour, so our guide will be able to meet you in the parking lot. If you are using your own vehicle without any prior arrangement with us it may not be possible to organize a tour for you.
If you come from Málaga:
Take the Highway towards Almeria-Motril. Continue on A-44 highway towards Granada.
12. How far is it from Granada or Malaga?
Once you leave Granada, and take the A44 highway, it takes around 20-25 minutes.
Once you leave Málaga, and take the highway it takes around 1h40 minutes.
13. After the tour we have to go to the Alhambra or to the airport, could you drop us off there?
In most cases, we can leave you at a different location from your pick-up place in Granada: for instance, downtown Granada (Plaza de Mariana Pineda), or at the entrance of the Alhambra. Please, let us know where you want to be dropped off when you make your booking, so that our driver can organize the return route. Granada’s airport is located 25-30 minutes outside of the city. If you wish we can organize transportation to take you directly to the airport after the tour. You may leave your luggage in the minibus during the tour. This service will include a fee to cover any additional costs.
14. We are vegetarian, or we have special dietary requirements, could you prepare something special for us?
If you have any special dietary requirements please let us know beforehand, at the time of booking so that we can adjust to your needs.
15. We are travelling with our baby; do you have a baby seat in the minibus for him/her?
Yes, if you travel with a baby or a small child, please tell us in advance so we can have the appropriate seat for his/her age ready.
16. Is there a lot of walking during the tour?
No. At the beginning of the tour, in the olive groves, we walk approximately for 15-20 minutes (100 meters – 330 feet). The path is surfaced, flat and easy to walk on. Later in the tour, we walk very small distances (less than 50 meters – 150 feet). The tour is quite relaxed, so you will be able to rest after the long walks you may have done visiting Granada’s downtown and the Alhambra.
17. Is the tour adapted for people with disabilities and/or for people using a wheelchair?
There are two situations to consider. First, transportation in the minibus: a person who can stand on his/her feet can come into the van, but the minivan is not adapted for someone who must stay in his/her own wheelchair. Second, in the XV century oil mill, there’s a step that is 25 centimetres high (around 10 inches), which makes it inaccessible for wheelchairs. If the person can stand on his/her feet and walk about 20 or 30 meters (65-100 feet), then there’s no problem.
18. What happens if it rains?
The time outdoors during the tours in the olive groves is just 15-20 minutes. For occasional showers an umbrella or a rainproof jacket is enough. On the very rare occasion that it might rain heavily, you can stay inside the minivan where your guide will provide the explanations of this part of the tour.
19. Do we need special equipment or shoes, etc… to go on the tour?
No. You can come as you please. In the olive groves we walk on an asphalted path, so you don’t dirty your shoes. But remember to bring your camera!!!
20. How many more people will there be with us?
It’s not always possible to know in advance the number of people who will join your group. In general, we work with small groups between 4-8 people. Sometimes it’s a personalized tour for a minimum of 2 people. During high season, the groups can get up to 12-18 people. Apart from this, we also organize private visits for groups of students or companies. For more information about groups please go to groups.
21. Are there any age restrictions to go on the tour?
No, there are no age restrictions to go on the OliveOilTour. You are all welcome!
