10. Where does the tour take place?
The 3 hour tour takes place in Nigüelas and its surroundings. Nigüelas is located in the Lecrin Valley, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, between the Tropical Coast and the city of Granada, close to the Alpujarras.
11. We would like to come in our own transport, how do we get there?
The tour starts in Nigüelas (post code 18657), and GPS coordinates: If you come from Granada, take the A-44 in the direction to Motril. Take the exit # 157 (NIGUELAS – DURCAL) and follow the signs to the village of Nigüelas. At the entrance of the village, on your left, there is a big free parking place where you can park your car and meet our guide. It is very important to book in advance in order to do the tour, so our guide will be able to meet you in the car park. If you are using your own transport without prior arrangement with us it may be not possible to organize a tour for you.
12. How far is it from Granada or Malaga?
Once you leave Granada, and join the A44 motorway, it takes around 20-25 minutes.
Once you leave Malaga, it takes around 1h30 minutes.
13. After the tour we have to go to the train station, to the bus station or to the airport, could you drop us there?
In most cases, we can leave you at a different point from your pickup point in Granada: for instance, in the city center (Plaza Nueva), at the train station or bus station. Please, let us know when you make your booking, so that our driver can organize the return route. Granada’s airport is located at around 25-30 minutes out of the city. If you wish we can help you organise transport to take you directly to the airport after the tour. You may leave your luggage in the minibus during the tour.
14. We would like to take the tour which includes lunch, but we are vegetarian, or we have special dietary requirements, could you prepare something special for us?
Yes, the restaurant offers typical Andalusian food including vegetarian options. If you have any special dietary requirements please advise us at the time of booking so that we can order according to your needs.
15. We are travelling with our baby; do you have a baby seat in the minibus for him/her?
Yes, if you travel with a baby or a small child, please tell us in advance so we can prepare the seat appropriate for his/her age.
16. Is there a lot of walking during the tour?
No. At the beginning of the tour, in the olive groves, we walk approximately 100 meters (around 330 feet). The path is surfaced, flat and easy to walk on. Later in the tour, we walk very small distances (less than 50 meters (around 150 feet)). The tour is quite relaxed, so you’ll be able to rest after the long walks you may have done visiting Granada’s center and the Alhambra.
17. Is the tour adapted for people with disabilities and/or for people using a wheelchair?
There are two situations to take into account. First, the transport in the minibus: it is possible for a person who can stand on his/her feet to come into the van, but the minivan is not adapted for someone who must stay in his/her own wheelchair. Then in the XV century oil mill, there is a high step of 25 centimeters (around 10 inches), which makes it unaccessible for wheelchairs. If the person can stand on his/her feet and walk about 20 or 30 meters (65-100 feet), then there is no problem.
18. What happens if it rains?
The time outdoors during each of the tours in the olive groves is just 10-15 minutes. For the occasional shower an umbrella or a rainproof jacket is enough. On the very rare occasion that it might rain heavily, you can stay inside the minivan where your guide will provide the commentary on this part of the tour. This also applies for the stop at the view point on the 6 hour tour.
19. Do we need special equipment or shoes, etc… to go on the tour?
No. You can come as you please. In the olive groves we walk on an asphalted path, so you don’t dirty your shoes. But remember not to forget your camera!!!
20. How many more people will there be with us?
It is not always possible to know in advance the number of people who will apply to join the tour. In general, we work with small groups between 4-8 people. Sometimes it even happens to be a very personalized tour for a minimum of 2 people. In high season, the groups can get up to 12-15 persons. Apart from this, we also organize private visits for student or company groups. For more information about groups please go to
groups
21. Are there any age restrictions to going on the tour?
No, there are no age restrictions to going on the Olive Oil Tour. You are all welcome!
